Auggieism#58 - Self-Reliant

Meaning of
/åtmanirbhara/
1. independent ADJECTIVE
If one thing or person is independent of another, they are separate and not connected, so the first one is not affected or influenced by the second.
Your questions should be independent of each other.

BCCI should run for Goverment

This is why I think that the Board of Control for Cricket India (B.C.C.I.) should form the Government of India

1. BCCI bans players for life who were caught for spot fixing.
by that logic all government officials & employees caught will also have life bans

2. People accused of financial irregularities are also handed life bans.
so no minister however big or small will be spared.

3. BCCI can get other countries to change their officials if they do not like them by threatening to cancel a tour.
politically just imagine the power they will have if they can change other countries decisions to suit India's needs

4. The BCCI can stay a tournament in a country when another refuses to go there.
full power politically to control neighborhood countries

5. BCCI can choose not to use modern technology if it does not suit them despite all others agreeing to use it.
one country against all and still winning.. wow!!

I could go on and on...

but

If the BCCI cant from the government, I think the government should follow the BCCI's policies and practices at least

Open Letter to Goa

Dear People of Goa,

Please do not make make Goa another Mumbai, look what happened to Bombay over the years, the rule to shut wine shops at 11 pm and restaurants at 1:30 only will increase your problems and not solve it. Let me give you the biggest example of what has happened to Bombay over the years..

This is what Mumbai had many years ago... A night life which included..

# The city was always awake. Not just fancy restaurants but street food anywhere at any time of the night.

# People would walk freely at anytime of the night without any fear (as there were people every where at any time thus making it safe)

# This led to less crime.

# No deadline to restaurant and party places meant people could decide themselves when they wanted to get home.

# This avoided all party people landing on the streets at the same time and causing traffic, noise etc.. besides most of the people not having had enough, cause they started only at 11pm.

# Oh we used to have tourists... yes we did...

I could go on and on about the past and if you check the news you know what the state of the city is that was once Bombay has now turned into....

Please do not let that happen to GOA...

Yours Truly,
A Goenkar

PS: People come to Goa to get away from their cites.. don't make this another metro!!

Solution to stop police raiding clubs in mumbai

Solution to Police Raiding Clubs

Here is my simple solution to stop the Mumbai police from raiding clubs, bars and any other party known to have been raided.

1. Register a new religion. Lets call it "Boozeda" or "Allcohollji" or "Dancicko" or something creative, you get the drift.

2. Have quite a lot of people sign up as followers of this religion. Try and make it a majority of the state.

3. Create a design / symbol to represent this religion.

4. Lay down the rules to the religion like
   a) you can be part of "boozeda" and any other religion that you choose.
   b) you must party every weekend or the god would be offended.
   c) dancing is a must at these parties.
   d) alcohol must be present, and at least a few should consume it... you get the drift again..

5. Have the design / symbol present at every party you organise.

6. Get minimun of one political party to support this religion..

7. Don forget the Tax benefit to religious institutions..

now you can go ahead and party like crazy...

we all know that you can get away with almost anything in the name of religion in this country...

Lets make this happen...

OR

just change the laws so that innocent people can have some fun without having to go to the cops station..

Boozed out..?

So in the recent news cops catch a few people selling fake liquor in expensive bottles, I am sure this is only the tip of the iceberg
New Year bust Ordinary whiskey in Scotch bottles

and on the other hand in West Bengal the toll of people dying due to illicit liquor is on the rise.
Hootch Tragedy
Hooch horror in Bengal

and we have people like Anna Hazare saying "flog boozers"
Netizens rap flog boozers barb of Anna Hazare

according to Anna there is no Tobacco and Liquor sold in his state
Tobacco liquor not sold in Anna Hazares village

but the actual truth is he has just scared people of his village into giving up alcohol
Fear and intimidation in Anna Hazares model village

Why do you think this is happening..
The Maharashtra government has raised Taxes on booze
Excise duty foreign liquor country liquor

Then they also raise the age to which you are allowed to drink
Drinking age for liquor in Maharastra

So why will illicit liquor or smuggling not be on the rise,
Its quite simple you see, we live in a democratic county and we are free to do what we want as long as we are not breaking any laws. In any city just like Mumbai where people are working like dogs to earn a little to a lot of money, we all put in a hard days work, its nice to end the day or the weekend on a little high. After all  are we not all working towards being happy. So while the earning has stayed the same the prices for everything has been raised, and this rise of Tax is affecting the happiness of the state.

Of course people will look at buying things at a cheaper rate, if only the original came at a smaller price no one would buy fake booze risking their lives, also cutting down on the profits of smugglers thus cutting down the crime. Would you ever think of smuggling cheaper booze in states like Goa or Daman no why cause its already cheap there, it would be a stupid business.

What if booze was made really cheap, do you think that the entire country would turn dunk, I don't think so, its the case where the forbidden fruit is the one that is desired the most. But there is always the case of bad fruit spoils the case, there are a few who spoil the fun for all, its takes just a few over drunk people to spoil the happiness of the rest. A young few who drink and drive and spoil it for the millions who are responsible drunks.
Drunk Driving

So what should be done.. Lower and cheaper booze or a complete ban, I think lets just open a bottle have a  peg or two and then we can decide later.
!! Cheers!!

Petrol Hike a Silver lining

We have all heard of the petrol prices going up in the last year

Fifth Petrol Price Hike in India This Year

Revolt Against Petrol Hikes in India

Petrol price hike from Rs 8 to Rs 58 in 20 years

and there are a lot more articles that you can come across.
The trend that fuel hike takes is
Fuel hike  = rise in transportation = rise in essential commodities = everything has gone up except income.

While this is a disaster of sorts, there is a silver lining a see through all this,
I say why increase it by 1.80 or 2 Rs/ - I say increase rates to 100 to 500 Rs/-
Its makes fuel so unaffordable that we all get screwed big time,
So what is the silver lining in all this

It will force all to leave their car's & bikes at home and take up public transport,
this will force the improvement of public transport. (hopefully)
Alternately people will start walking and cycling to places
a healthier approach to life, also it would be easier as there would be lesser traffic to deal with.
Most people will have to return to their home towns and villages and take up farming
this increases the country's internal food supply and bringing down cost as supply increases.
Alternate methods will finally get implied which are not only cost effective
but also environment friendly, like solar and wind powered transport,
may be fuel produced in our own backyard and thus reducing our dependency from the oil exporting countries.

So while the silver line might be a very thin one,
hope it does not leave us drenched out waiting for the rainbow to appear.
